UP Election 2022: SP regains some lost ground on minority seats. India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Is BJP repeating its stellar 2017 performance in Muslim-dominated seats in UP?
not enough. As per afternoon trends, it is almost an even division for these 57 seats concentrated in some areas of Western UP, Rohilkhand, Terai and Eastern UP.
BJP is ahead in 29 seats – 8 less than its tally in 2017; The SP has added the same number to its 2017 tally of 17, and is up on 25 seats.
The saffron party walked away with 37 of these 57 seats in 2017. This was even when the party did not field a single Muslim candidate. The decline in SP’s vote bank and the split of minority votes between SP and BSP had helped for the BJP in 2017. But this time its vote share has come down from 38.8% to 37.8%.
The advantage of 8 seats for the SP is probably due to the BSP and Congress going to its bag with a large share of votes. While Mayawati’s party has lost 7% of the vote since 2017, the Congress’s share has fallen to over 4%.
On the other hand SP has improved its vote share by almost 10%.
