UP Election 2022: 55 percent voting in 61 seats in the fifth phase, lowest ever

The fifth phase saw the lowest turnout so far. 54.80 percent voters have exercised their franchise in this phase. The fate of more than one and a half dozen veterans got imprisoned in the EVMs in this phase. Polling remained peaceful in this phase amid reports of sporadic incidents and malfunctioning of EVMs from some places. In the fifth phase, voting was held in 61 seats in Amethi, Rae Bareli, Sultanpur, Chitrakoot, Pratapgarh, Kaushambi, Prayagraj, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Bahraich, Shravasti and Gonda districts.

Shortly after the commencement of polling, Gulshan Yadav, Samajwadi Party candidate in Kunda, accused the people of Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya of attacking his vehicle. At the end of the elections, one person died due to explosion in Kareli of Prayagraj. However, Prayagraj Police says that this incident has nothing to do with the election.

In the fifth phase, Chitrakoot district recorded the highest voter turnout (59.64 percent). Whereas the lowest voter turnout was in Prayagraj (52.92 percent). On the other hand, in the Allahabad North seat of Prayagraj district, the lowest voter turnout was 38.35 percent. The highest voter turnout was 62.27 percent in Chitrakoot seat of Chitrakoot district.

549 complaints of code of conduct, 91 machines malfunctioned
In the fifth phase, 549 complaints came for violation of the code of conduct. In this, 293 complaints were found to be correct, on which action was taken. During this, 91 EVMs malfunctioned after which they had to be replaced. Apart from this, 475 VVPATs were changed.

80 thousand voters used postal ballot
80 thousand voters used postal ballot. In this, 59572 postal ballots were made available to voters above 80 years of age, disabled voters, essential service and polling personnel, in which 52757 voters used postal ballots. Similarly, postal ballots have also been made available to 27337 service voters.

Their fate was imprisoned in EVMs
In this phase Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Cabinet Ministers Siddharthnath Singh, Nand Gopal Nandi, Moti Singh, Mukut Bihari Verma’s son Gaurav Verma, Ramapati Shastri, former ministers Arvind Singh Gope, Tej Narayan Pandey alias Pawan Pandey, Farid Mahfouz Kidwai, Raghuraj The fate of more than one and a half dozen veterans including Pratap Singh, Pramod Tiwari’s daughter Aradhana Mishra, Krishna Patel, Pallavi Patel will be decided on March 10.
