Kanpur: A Dalit man was allegedly thrashed and tied to a tree by family members of a woman. Kanpur Dehat District of Uttar Pradesh.
The attackers also allegedly put sticks in the private part of the man.
The incident which took place on Wednesday came to light on Friday after the video of the inhuman act went viral on social media.
Sources said the man, a painter by profession and a resident of Sarwan Kheda in the district, was allegedly in a relationship with a woman from a nearby village in Akbarpur area for over three months.
The woman had called the young man to meet her on Wednesday.
As he reached the woman’s village, a group of men from her family caught hold of her, tied her to a tree with a dupatta and beat her with sticks and sticks for hours.
He was also forced to lie down on a wooden bench and was brutally beaten up.
After she cries and begs for mercy, the attackers threaten her with dire consequences and leave her.
Police have registered an FIR against three named and six unidentified persons.
“Furthermore, an FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC)” SC/ST Act Has been recorded. As the investigation is on, we were told by the villagers that the man was having an affair with the woman while she was working as a painter in her house. Raids are being conducted to make possible the arrest of the accused. Inspector Akbarpur Tulsiram Pandey said, we have ascertained the identity of those who attacked the man through the viral video.
The man’s family members told reporters that when they reached the local police station with a complaint, the police refused to register an FIR.
He said, “Police said – that they will register a case against the person under the molestation act. The person is undergoing treatment at Lala Lajpat Hospital.”
