UP Bypoll Result 2022: All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday said that the Samajwadi Party (SP) is unable to defeat the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). His statement came soon after the SP lost to the BJP in two Lok Sabha constituencies: Rampur and Azamgarh.

“UP bypoll results show that Samajwadi Party is unable to defeat BJP, they don’t have intellectual honesty. Minority community should not vote for such incompetent parties. Who is responsible for BJP’s victory, now they are as B. Whose name will I take-team, C-team,” Owaisi told news agency ANI.

Holding SP chief Akhilesh Yadav responsible for the party’s defeat in the Rampur and Azamgarh bypolls, Owaisi said, “Akhilesh Yadav has so much arrogance that he does not even go to meet people. I will appeal to the Muslims of the country to make their political identity. My.”

The ruling BJP won both Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha seats in the by-elections in Uttar Pradesh. BJP candidate from Rampur seat Ghanshyam Singh Lodhi defeated Mohammad Asim Raja of Samajwadi Party while from Azamgarh seat BJP candidate Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirhua won. In Azamgarh, Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Guddu Jamali gave a tough fight and came third. Both the seats were considered strongholds of the Samajwadi Party.

The by-elections had to be held due to the resignation of Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan from Azamgarh and Rampur seats respectively. Both the leaders quit as Lok Sabha MPs after being elected to the Uttar Pradesh Assembly in the elections held earlier this year.
