However, on Monday, the High Court decided to shift from completely virtual mode to hybrid mode as lawyers opposed the court’s decision to go completely virtual.
In the supplementary modalities and arrangements issued by Allahabad High Court Registrar General Ashish Garg on Monday, it has been clarified that only fresh cases will be listed for hearing in the courts, that too in limited numbers.
“Subject to the order of the Chief Justice, old and redundant matters may be listed in the cause (cases) list with advance notice,” the notification said.
Further, the bail petitions/appeals and habeas corpus petitions of the detained accused will be listed as usual. “The cases in which a date has been fixed will be listed on that particular date,” the registrar general said.
A limited number of advocates will be allowed to enter the courtrooms and the remaining advocates, whose cases are listed, will wait for their turn outside the courtrooms. However, they will follow the COVID protocol.
However, the Registrar General advised the lawyers to join the virtual mode to decongest the courts.
“Lawyers whose cases are listed will be allowed to enter the court premises through e-pass. Only those advocates will be allowed to enter the court premises whose cases have been decided on that particular date. Wearing of gown has been given exemption till further orders.”
