Recently, the hospital had collected 800 COVID-19 RT-PCR samples, out of which 33 hospital staff had contracted the disease.

Dr Rakesh Kapoor, director of Medanta Hospital, was quoted by ANI as saying, “Most of the doctors who have been infected go for sample collection and this may be the reason why they have contracted the disease”.

Dr Kapoor said, “The hospital is collecting samples from other staff members and doctors as well.”

Meanwhile, as the Covid positivity rate in Delhi jumped over 5% for a day, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) has decided to impose weekend curfew in the national capital. The decision was taken during the DDMA meeting held on Tuesday due to the rapidly increasing COVID-19 cases in Delhi.

Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia announced that government employees, except those engaged in essential services, will be asked to work from home. He said that private offices will remain open with only 50 per cent seating capacity.

A major change that will be visible to commuters of Delhi is that the restrictive 50% capacity in public transport vehicles such as buses and metro trains has been removed.
