The High Court has also requested the Election Commission to immediately stop political rallies and gatherings and order political parties to campaign through TV channels and newspapers.

The poll body also urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to think about banning election-related gatherings in Uttar Pradesh and postponing the state assembly elections due to the fear of the highly contagious Covid-19 type omicron.

The bench of Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav of the High Court said that what is the number of patients infected with it? omicron Variants are on the rise and a third Covid wave is likely.

The High Court said, if possible, the election can be postponed for a couple of months because election rallies and meetings can be held only if there is life and the right to life has also been given under Article 21 of the Indian Constitution.
