Unemployment increased manifold in UP due to BJP’s short-sighted policies: Akhilesh Yadav

Samajwadi Party chief and former state chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has blamed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state for unemployment and warned that the situation may worsen in the coming days with the economic slowdown. The Samajwadi Party chief has also alleged that the UP CM keeps boasting about employment, but on the contrary, those who were recruited during the SP rule in 2016 have not got the joining date till date.

In an official statement released on Thursday, the SP chief said, “Unemployment is at its worst due to BJP’s short-sighted policies. The BJP government has ruined the economy. While this unemployment has made the future of thousands of youth bleak, it has also exposed the Chief Minister’s claim of providing lakhs of jobs every year. Economists say that due to the economic slowdown in the coming days, the situation of unemployment may become more explosive.

He said, “BJP CMs do not tire of claiming employment to lakhs of people every year, but the truth is that there are hurdles everywhere, be it recruitment of teachers or doctors or departmental vacancies. In the year 2016, the police was recruited in the Samajwadi government, selection was done and training was also given, but till date they did not get the joining date.

Yadav said that the unemployment figures are really shocking. “The unemployment figures are really shocking. In April 2020, more than 12 crore people lost their jobs. The unemployment rate reached 17.88 percent for the week ending May 30. Urban unemployment increased by 10.8 percent. Many companies remained closed in lockdown during the Corona period. Those who have lost their jobs will not get employment again easily.

He said that according to the report of NITI Aayog, there has been a decline in the performance of UP. “The BJP government promoted investment meet, made new employment claims, printed big advertisements, many MoUs were signed but not a single industry was set up on the ground. The IT hub that was built during the time of the Samajwadi government, the Amul plant was set up, Samsung came and even today the Chief Minister pats them on the back. Neither medical colleges were built under the BJP government, neither AIIMS nor new universities were established. As a result of this, in the latest report of NITI Aayog, there has been a decline in the performance of UP in every sector.

“BJP is actually a party of big businessmen. This worsens the condition of small traders and shopkeepers. They provide employment at the local level. The BJP government has also implicated them in financial trouble by not giving any relief. As long as there is a BJP government in the state, no work for public welfare has been done. People will get relief and unemployed will get work only when Samajwadi Party government is formed in the state in 2022.
