Umesh Pal Murder Case: A new video of 32 seconds has surfaced in which injured Umesh Pal can be seen fighting with a shooter. It is being told that this person is Atiq Ahmed’s son Asad.
Former MLA Khalid Azeem alias Ashraf wants his agitation outside the Uttar Pradesh court to be videographed and six lawyers to accompany him round the clock. By filing an application in the MP-MLA court of Prayagraj, the former MLA has expressed the apprehension of an encounter like Vikas Dubey.
Since Ashraf is accused of conspiracy in the Umesh Pal murder case, there is a strong possibility of him being taken on remand. The former MLA said in the application that the safety of his life is the responsibility of the courts as he is in judicial custody.
The court has sought response from the Bareilly Jail Superintendent on the basis of his application. Ashraf had taken shelter at his in-laws’ house in Prayagraj’s Hatwa village when he was wanted in various cases during the first term of the Yogi Adityanath government.
For three years, the former MLA remained hidden there while a reward of one lakh rupees was declared on him. Ashraf was arrested from his in-laws house in 2020 and is now lodged in Bareilly Jail.
Umesh Pal murder case: SC to hear Atiq Ahmed’s plea
The Supreme Court will again hear the plea of gangster-turned-politician and former Samajwadi Party leader Atiq Ahmed challenging his transfer from Ahmedabad jail to Uttar Pradesh jail.
In his plea to the apex court, Ahmed, an accused in the Umesh Pal murder case, has told the apex court that he fears that the Uttar Pradesh Police may kill him in an encounter.
The matter will be heard by a bench headed by Justice Ajay Rastogi and also comprising Justice Bela M Trivedi.

Atiq Ahmed is currently lodged in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Jail. Among the sensational murders in which Ateeq Ahmed was allegedly involved was the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party MLA Raju Pal, who was shot dead in 2005. Umesh Pal was the main witness of this murder case.
Umesh Pal was shot dead on February 24 outside his residence in Prayagraj. Atiq Ahmed is the main accused who is said to have conspired to kill Umesh Pal. It was at his behest that his brother Ashraf conspired to kill him in UP’s Bareilly Jail.
In a petition filed in the Supreme Court, Atiq Ahmed said that he feared that the Uttar Pradesh Police would take him on transit remand to investigate his role in the Umesh Pal murder case and that he would be killed in an encounter.
After the murder of Umesh Pal, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath accused the Samajwadi Party of giving protection to the mafia (criminals) and said ‘Unko mitti mein mila denge‘ (We will reduce them to dust).
