Umar hits out at Center over plan to transfer appropriate powers to IAS, IPS officers – Kashmir Reader

Srinagar: National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Thursday said the Centre’s plan to transfer appropriate powers to IAS and IPS officers would be “another nail” in the coffin of the country’s federal structure.

He was reacting to media reports that the central government is planning to supersede itself to transfer IAS and IPS officers through central deputation, removing the need to seek the approval of state governments.

“This will be another nail in the coffin of the federal structure of India. If PM Modi summarily removes his DG or CS then what will be the reaction of CM Modi? J&K lost all its powers of appointment in 2019, now looks like the rest of India will go the same way,” Abdullah tweeted.
