What does this mean for travelers traveling from India?

India’s Amber List under Britain’s traffic light system for international travel means people returning from these countries will follow a 10-day home quarantine. This comes as a relief to the Indian communities in the UK, who were demanding easing of travel norms between India and the UK.

As per the legal regulations for Amber Listed countries, passengers must give a mandatory Covid-19 test three days before departure and book in advance for two COVID tests in addition to filling out a passenger locator form upon arrival in England. According to news agency PTI.

After arriving in England, travelers will be required to quarantine at home or at the place they have confirmed as their location for 10 days and undergo a COVID-19 test on or before the second day and on or after the eighth day.

Meanwhile, seven countries are moving to the Green List – Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Romania and Norway – and France has been removed from the “amber watchlist”. People coming from Green List countries will not have to be quarantined on their return from these countries, regardless of their vaccination status, although they will have to take another test before departure and a day or two after arrival.

Four countries are on the red list: Mexico, Georgia, La Reunion and Mayotte.

Who is exempted?

Under-18s in the UK and those fully vaccinated have been exempted from home quarantine, including two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in the EU and the US, PTI reports.
