Rishi Sunak had earlier on Monday ordered an inquiry against Conservative Party President Nadeem Zahavi.

Britain’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak fired Conservative Party chairman Nadim Zahawi on Sunday after an investigation into Zahawi’s tax affairs found “serious breaches” of ministerial rules, the government said.

Sunak wrote in a publicly released letter to his Iraqi-born colleague, “Following the completion of the independent consultant’s investigation – the findings of which he has shared with both of us – it is clear that there has been a serious breach of the ministerial code.” , following a scandal that cast doubt on the premier’s own judgment and vow of integrity.

He said, “Consequently, I inform you of my decision to remove you from your position in Her Majesty’s Government.”

Sunak appointed Zahavi as party president and cabinet minister without portfolio when he entered Downing Street in October.
