The objectives of APPG (All-Party Parliamentary Group) Indo-Pacific, made up of Labor and Conservative MPs and fellows, include raising awareness of cross-border infiltration, terrorist training camps, impact on communities living in border areas. Dealing with minority communities, youth radicalism and religious doctrine, and the impact on communities globally and in the region.

The UK Carrier Strike Group is in the region and on Thursday the UK formally became ASEAN’s first new dialogue partner since 1966. In its integrated review in March, the UK reframed its foreign policy to “leaning” towards the Indo-Pacific.
“The APPG Indo-Pacific provides a unique forum in the UK Parliament to raise a pitch on the subcontinental security paradigm. There is a general lack of information and understanding on issues related to terrorism and the geopolitics of the region in the UK.” APPG Vice President Lord Rami Ranger said.
“The focus of this APPG will be on the security paradigm in the Indo-Pacific and will include matters relating to geopolitics, radicalism, separatism, separatism and terrorism in the subcontinent and its implications globally and particularly in the UK,” said Bob Blackman Said. APPG chair. “The Indo-Pacific is rapidly emerging as one of the most important regions in the post-pandemic international order, post-Brexit. It holds the key to the future of global trade,” he said.
“In the past few years we have seen a serious escalation in the security situation with Pakistan on Jammu and Kashmir, Chinese aggression in Ladakh, sponsored cross-border terrorism, and support for extremist and other separatist elements in the Kashmir Valley,” Blackman said. . “I look forward to combating false propaganda in the region and keeping political parties honest about the region’s information and greater cooperation among like-minded democracies on security issues,” Blackman said.
“This APPG will provide an opportunity to highlight the success India has seen in recent years in improving living standards and delivering greater prosperity,” said Vice-Chair Theresa Villiers.
APPG will promote cross-party visits to the region, dialogue with representatives of the region, cross-community dialogue for the region and engagement with expatriate communities in the UK.
APPGs are not official parliamentary bodies. The new version of the register of APPG Indo-Pacific APPGs, the official list of such groups, will appear on approximately 25 August.
