UGC Asks All Universities, HEIs to Consider CUET Scores For UG Courses

UGC has invited all State, Private, Deemed Universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to adopt and use CUET score for admission to their UG programmes.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) in its letter to the Vice-Chancellors of all universities and principals of all colleges in the country, Common University Entrance Test (CUET) UG 2023 Score for admission in their UG programmes.

“In order to save students from appearing in multiple entrance examinations held on different dates, sometimes in conjunction with each other, and to provide equal opportunity to all students of different Boards, the UGC has decided to conduct examinations for all State Universities, Deemed to be invites and encourages Universities, Private Universities and Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to adopt and use CUET scores for admission to their UG programmes,” reads the official letter.

The move has been given much thought by the authorities over the past few years. To avoid multiple entrance exams and more importantly to provide equal opportunity to all the students of different boards, the statutory body came up with this idea for higher Education Institute (HEI). As of now, many colleges across the country either conduct a separate entrance exam for admission to undergraduate courses or make class 12th board the criteria for admitting students in various streams.

Earlier in December 2022, the UGC in a letter to all universities had highlighted some of the salient features of CUET – UG/PG 2023. The same letter had acted as a reference point for the education body summoning all heads of HEIs.

It was written in the letter that a student can appear in as many subjects and the pattern of the question paper will remain the same. Apart from this, a candidate can also appear in one/two languages ​​and six domain subjects in addition to the general test.

The exam is conducted in 13 languages ​​including Assamese, Bengali, English, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. The exam will be conducted in three shifts over multiple days depending upon the number of candidates and choice of subject. The result for CUET-UG will be declared in the third week of June 2023 and the result for CUET-PG will be declared in the first week of July 2023.

this year, the number of candidates can apply for. Last time, when the CUET UG exam made its debut, NTA allowed candidates to choose nine subjects, but this year applicants can choose a maximum of 10 subjects from all the three sections. The exam will be held from May 21 to 31.
