UDUPI: A new oxygen generator plant installed at Lombard Memorial (Mission) Hospital, UdupiProcured and established by the Azim Premji Foundation, was inaugurated on Monday.
The PSA oxygen generator is imported from Portugal at a cost of Rs 40 lakh, with the Azim Premji Foundation donating the entire amount. It has the capacity to produce 30 jumbo cylinders of oxygen per day and also has an automatic changeover system in case more oxygen is required from the additional cylinders. There is separate oxygen back up for ICU.
With this, the hospital now has oxygen pipelines in all wards, casualties, intensive care unit (ICU), High Dependency Unit (HDU), Labor Theater and Operation Theater (OT). In addition, the hospital has ten small personal oxygen concentrators and two high flow nasal oxygen systems.

Dr Sushil Jathanna, director of the hospital, thanked the Azim Premji Foundation for its generous contribution towards setting up the plant and said that the hospital has also invested in ensuring that piped oxygen is provided to all wards and rooms. He informed that in addition to six bedded Kovid ICU, four bedded High Dependency Unit (HDU) has been established. non covid ICU.
