Union Minister Narayan Rane on Friday hit out at Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, saying he was attending a meeting called by Congress President Sonia Gandhi due to his helplessness. “Had Balasaheb Thackeray been alive today, he would not have compromised his Hindutva ideology,” Rane told reporters here. But Uddhav Thackeray is helpless as he is attending a meeting called by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.” Will take

Rane played down the incident in which Shiv Sena workers visited the memorial of late Bal Thackeray, the party’s founder, at Mumbai’s Shivaji Park on Thursday. “It is my approach to bow before whomever I want. I also visited other monuments and this was part of my interaction with the people after joining the Union Cabinet,” the BJP leader said.

“(Thackeray) the memorial is surrounded by soil. If the army workers are eager to clean it, they should first put it in better condition. It should be at par with an international standard memorial. But its condition matches the condition Mumbai under Shiv Sena’s 32 years long rule… Time to get rid of Shiv Sena.” Rane said the BJP will turn Mumbai into a “truly international standard” city.

The former Maharashtra chief minister said, “If Shiv Sena workers are working for some revenge, they will be rejected by the people of the state. The attitude of Shiv Sena workers is sad.” He also said that the police cases being registered against BJP workers for alleged violation of COVID-19 norms will not deter them from continuing their ‘Jan Ashirwad Yatra’. “This government has miserably failed to control the coronavirus situation in the state. There was a shortage of medicines, doctors and medical staff. Shiv Sena could not even procure enough doses of vaccine for Mumbaikars as they demanded 12 per cent commission from a supplier. who had responded to the tender issued by the BMC,” alleged Rane, adding, “I can present that person to you at the right time.” .
