Udaipur tailor murder case: UP Police on alert, warned against provocative posts

New Delhi: After the brutal murder of a tailor in Rajasthan’s Udaipur, Uttar Pradesh Police has increased vigil in the state, Director General of Police DS Chauhan said on Wednesday (June 29). He also warned against posting provocative posts on social media. Chouhan said, “All UP Police personnel deployed across the state are on alert after the Udaipur incident. We will take strict action against those posting inflammatory content on social media. Our priority is to maintain law and order in the state.” As quoted by PTI.

A senior officer posted at the police headquarters told the news agency that social media units in all districts have been directed to keep a watch on the posts and take immediate action if any provocative communal post comes to the fore.

The district police chiefs have been asked to hold peace committee talks with local religious heads to resolve any issues that may lead to communal flare-ups.

Additional precautionary measures were taken after the state witnessed violence in early June. Earlier on June 3 and June 10, protests were held against remarks by now-suspended BJP leaders Nupur Sharma and Naveen Kumar Jindal on Prophet Mohammad, which took a violent turn.

Director General of Police (DGP) ML Lather said that three more people have been detained so far in connection with the heinous murder. Lather was quoted as saying, “One of the accused, Ghosh Mohammed, has links with Karachi-based Islamist outfit Dawat-e-Islami. He had visited Karachi in 2014. So far, we have detained five people, including the two main accused. have taken.” As stated by PTI.
