Udaipur massacre: CM Ashok Gehlot appoints Kanhaiya Lal’s sons in government service

Jaipur (Rajasthan): Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot appointed the sons of tailor Kanhaiyalal Teli, who was beheaded on June 28, to support sacked BJP leader Nupur Sharma in the service of the state government. The Chief Minister informed through a tweet in Hindi, “The Cabinet has decided to appoint Yash Teli and Tarun Teli, sons of Kanhaiya Lal Teli, who were killed in the Udaipur terrorist incident, in government service.” CM Gehlot said that the state government has given relaxation in the rules of appointment under Rule 6C of the Rajasthan Subordinate Office Clerk Service (Amendment) Rules, 2008 and 2009.

In another tweet, CM Ashok Gehlot said, “Rules of appointment have been relaxed. This appointment will be provided under Rule 6C of the Rajasthan Subordinate Office Clerk Service (Amendment) Rules, 2008 and 2009.” The state government decided to help the family as Kanhaiyalal was the sole breadwinner of the family.

The brutal murder of Kanhaiyalal Teli took place between 3 pm and 3.30 pm on June 28, and the National Investigation Agency (NIA) came to know through an order issued by the Anti-Terrorism and Counter Radicalization Division (CTCR) of the MHA on June 28. 29.

Earlier, a case was registered at Dhanmandi police station in Udaipur district under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 16, 18 and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act related to Kanhaiya’s murder by two assailants. Sharp weapons at his shop “Supreme Tailor”.

Following the MHA’s order, the NIA directed its Superintendent of Police Ravi Choudhary, an IPS officer, to conduct the investigation as the Chief Investigating Officer in accordance with the National Investigation Agency Act, 2008, said an ANI report. Meanwhile, the NIA on Wednesday arrested the sixth person in connection with the murder of Kanhaiya Lal and detained him till July 12. Wasim Ali, who runs a meat shop opposite Kanhaiya Lal’s tailoring shop, was picked up by the federal agency on Tuesday night and questioned the other accused for their alleged role in conducting recce of the area. Waseem Ali was arrested on Wednesday and produced before a designated court, which remanded him to NIA custody till July 12.

Significantly, during the investigation of the case, two accused Riyaz Akhtari and Ghaus Mohammad were taken into custody. Both the accused, reportedly residents of Udaipur, are being questioned at the Jaipur office of the NIA. A six to 10-member team of NIA is probing the case under the supervision of an Inspector General and a Deputy Inspector General rank officer.

The two accused had also posted a video on social media soon after committing the crime, in which they boasted about “beheading” and threatened Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s life. The victim was murdered because she had shared a social media post in support of former BJP leader Nupur Sharma, who made controversial remarks against Prophet Mohammad.
