Uber is making major changes to its mobile app UI, and more changes are expected soon.

Uber is rolling out the biggest changes to the app’s design for iOS and Android in the coming months. The app is also now compatible with the Live Activity feature for iPhone, which means you can have live tracking of your cab or parcel on the lockscreen, even when the phone is locked.

Uber on Android also sees some visual design UI changes, changing the order of features that appear on the app. Now, you’ll find a ‘Where To’ bar at the top of the screen, and a new tab called Services has been added, which lets you view the different modes of transport supported by Uber in your area. The Maps interface is now at the bottom end of the app’s interface, which suggests most users weren’t using it that much.

Scroll down the app on Android and you’ll find tons of ways to save with Uber, including details on shuttle services, public transportation, and more. You can also reserve a ride on Uber and book an intercity ride with the platform. But the most intriguing addition is rolling out to Uber for iOS users in the form of live tracking on the main screen.

With this feature, you can track where your Uber cab is, the ETA of the ride, and details about the driver. Not just that, iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max users can take advantage of Dynamic Island on their screens, potentially giving you rider information on a smaller footprint. Uber offers different ride modes in the country, including auto, cab, rental, etc. You can also use Uber to send packages with the Connect service.

Android users may feel that having a new UI is not enough, but it is now up to phone makers to integrate a dynamic island-like feature on their devices, which can expand the use case for different applications. Having said that, it might not be that hard to bring live tracking to the Android lockscreen as well, and we’re hoping it happens soon.
