Uber Driver Earns Over Rs 23 Lakh By Cancelling Rides, Works For Only 15 Hours A Week

In a rather unusual case, an Uber driver hailing from North Carolina, the United States, managed to earn a substantial income of over Rs 23 lakh in a single year by strategically canceling ride requests. The driver, who goes by the name Bill and is 70 years old, only accepted approximately 10 percent of the ride requests he received, leading to this extraordinary earnings figure in 2022.

Bill’s unique strategy is rooted in his passion for driving, as he decided to continue working as a cab driver post-retirement. However, Bill was selective in the rides he accepted, choosing only those that would help him save time and maximize his efficiency, effectively avoiding time-wasting trips.

Bill primarily focused on driving during peak demand hours, often catering to busy locations such as bars and airports between 10 am and 2 am. During his busiest weeks, he worked around 40 hours, with only 30 of those hours spent driving. In recent times, he has considerably reduced his hours, now driving for just 10 to 15 hours weekly.

In the year 2022, Bill completed a total of 1,500 rides, resulting in an impressive income of 28,000 dollars, which converts to more than Rs 23 lakh in Indian currency. Remarkably, Bill’s primary motivation for driving isn’t solely financial gain, as he truly enjoys the act of driving itself. For Bill, it’s about the journey and not just the destination, earning an average of 30 to 60 dollars per ride while doing what he loves.
