UAE to lift restrictions on travelers from India on August 5 – Times of India

MUMBAI: Travelers from India will be allowed transit through the UAE from August 5, the UAE’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) announced on Tuesday.
The UAE eased travel restrictions on April 25, three months after closing its doors to travelers from India, as the country battled a second wave of Covid-19. Till then the India-UAE country pair was the world’s second busiest international route from January to April.
Following the ban, only UAE residents, those holding the UAE Golden Visa and members of the diplomatic mission were allowed to fly from India to the UAE.

Non-vaccinated travelers working with the UAE government, students, teachers, doctors, nurses, medical technicians, people with emergencies, etc. can also enter the UAE provided they have a residency permit.
In a tweet posted in Arabic late Tuesday, the NCEMA said travel would resume for “transit passengers from all countries from where transit passengers were earlier stopped.”
Transit passengers will need to have a negative PCR report 72 hours before departure and will have to obtain ‘Final Destination Approval’, essentially showing that their journey will end in another country. The order states that UAE airports will allot separate lounges for in-transit passengers.
A few hours ago, the UAE authority tweeted that travelers from India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Uganda, who have a valid UAE residency permit, can fly to the UAE from August 5. Travelers entering the UAE must apply for an entry permit online and have a negative RT-PCR test taken 48 hours prior to departure.
But the condition that he should have received the vaccination dose in the UAE caused confusion among travellers. Many took to Twitter to seek clarification from NCEMA on whether the UAE would accept vaccination certificates issued by the governments of India, Pakistan etc.
An official of an Indian carrier said that they had contacted the Indian embassy in the UAE for clarification on this aspect and in other NCEMA orders.
Dubai-based Emirates airline posted a link to NCEMA’s tweet on its website late Thursday, alerting passengers of these six countries about the change in travel restrictions. At the time of going to press, travel agents were yet to receive communication from the airline.
A travel industry insider said, “There is a lot of confusion regarding the eligibility criteria for passengers posted in NCEMA’s tweet. We are awaiting a note from Emirates.”
Before the travel ban of April 25 by the UAE, India-UAE was one of the strongest international routes in the world. According to UK aviation data firm, OAG, in the month of April, a total of 2.6 lakh seats will be flown by airlines between these two Indian cities and Dubai.
