Two more cases of Omicron were reported in Maharashtra, the number reached 10

New Delhi: Two more people tested positive for the Omicron variant of Covid-19 in Maharashtra on Monday, including State count 10. till, ANI reported that there are no symptoms in both the patients.

A 37-year-old man who returned from South Africa and his 36-year-old female friend who returned from the United States on November 25 have been found with the Omicron variant.

The Maharashtra government said that patients have taken Pfizer’s Kovid-19 vaccine. ANI reported that so far five high-risk and 315 low-risk contacts of the patients have been traced.

This is the second day in a row that Maharashtra has reported omicron cases, With the latest cases in Mumbai, India now has 23 omicron patients.

On Sunday, Maharashtra had reported seven cases of the Omron variant. All of them were residents of Pune district.

The first Omicron case was reported in Maharashtra on December 4. A man from Kalyan-Dombavili area had tested positive after traveling from South Africa to Mumbai via Dubai and Delhi.

The omicron variant was also found in the Covid-19 samples of nine persons in Rajasthan’s Jaipur and one fully vaccinated person who arrived in Delhi from Tanzania on Sunday.

Maharashtra Health Minister Rajesh Tope said the government was closely monitoring the situation and any decision on reimposing restrictions in the state would be taken only after the Centre’s guidance.

“It will be very inconvenient for the people if the currently permitted activities are banned,” he said. The Minister said that the State Government is focusing on getting people vaccinated while emphasizing on the need for strict enforcement of COVID-19 rules.
