Two months have passed, the biz is still not in the pink vending zone. Noida News – Times of India

NOIDA: Two months after the Noida authority inaugurated over 50 pink vending zones at nine locations in the city and 11 days after the Covid-19 restrictions were lifted, most of the areas were found empty and some women vendors operating from them turned out to be business. Complained ‘slow’.
He cited a number of reasons ranging from the lack of washrooms nearby to the poor location of the vending zones as some of the reasons the business had not picked up yet for women vendors.
Also Sector 125 Pink vendor areaNear Amity School, a male vendor was found operating a juice shop using a personal generator, which is not allowed as per the NGT rules.
Ruby Devi, 42, who owns a vending zone shop, said, “Every day I see this man running a juice shop here. I had a fight with him yesterday regarding this generator. This causes problems every day. It’s right next to my shop.”
Another problem cited by most of the women vendors was the lack of locking facility for their goods at the kiosks in these vending zones.
Usha Devi, a vendor in Sector 62 vending zone, said, “There is no locking facility here. Wherever I go, I have to take my little one with me. Also, there are no toilets nearby so we have to use the back of a park nearby. A short distance from here is the Green Vending Zone, which has 19 shops. All the customers go there and we get limited number of people here. The location of our vending zone is not good for business.
“We will also remove the male vendor and his generator, as it is against the NGT norms,” says Mukesh Vaish, senior manager, civil department, Noida Authority. Also we are discussing about locking system for women vendors. It is not possible to have toilets everywhere, but we will do everything possible to motivate women vendors to bring them back to the vending zones. Otherwise his name will be removed from the list.”
