Two guest workers arrested for possessing ganja in Coimbatore. Coimbatore News – Times of India

coimbatore: coimbatore rural police arrested two guest worker to hold 70 kg Hemp Monday night at Selakarichal.
The arrested people have been identified as 40-year-old S Shivaram Maharana of Ganjam district. Orissa and K Sudarsan Puhan, 41, from Kendujhar district of Odisha state.
Police said Shivaram was working in a steel manufacturing unit at Laxmi Nagar in Selakarichal on the outskirts of the city for the last two years. Poohan is running a grocery shop in the area.
A police team led by Sub-Inspector Kuppurj received information about illegal sale of ganja in Laxmi Nagar, Selakarchal. The police officers sent a noose (a guest worker) to buy two kg of ganja from Sibaram, who sold one kg of ganja for Rs 11,500. The two smuggled banned items from Odisha in buses and trains and supplied ganja only to guest workers in and around the Selakarichal area.
The value of the seized ganja is Rs 8,05,000. The Sultanpet police registered a case against both of them and arrested them. He confiscated the narcotics. The accused have been sent to judicial custody.
