Two fathers naturally send kids to school in costumes known as ‘Bus Stop Pops’ – Henry’s Club

Students in the Phoenix neighborhood received a special farewell Thursday — the last day of school in Baltimore County — from some of the fathers working hard to make the school year fun. “We’re just two dads and there’s little time that makes our kids want to laugh,” Clement said. “Our bus actually picks up our kids, goes to the street and passes us. So, we usually just sit there and shake hands.”

“We were having fun one day when they came back and said, ‘Hey, wouldn’t it be funny if we were in some kind of silly costume for the kids?’ Jones said.

And, so it started with a different theme each week.

“We’ve done reverse handstands, we’ve done gorillas,” Clement said.

“The Tyrannosaurus was probably one of my favorites while chasing archaeologists. That, and the elf on the shelf,” Jones said.

“We never know what they’re going to do, but every week, they’re always on top,” said Jones’ wife, Kate Jones.

On Thursday, the kids got on the bus for the last time and headed to the cul-de-sac for a walk as Bus Stop Pops prepared their final surprise for the end of the school year.

“It’s not to the point where we’re embarrassing our kids yet, but it’ll be more fun when we start,” Jones said.
