THANE: A Marathi actress was duped of 30,000 by two conmen who impersonated as director of a web series. As per the police, the actress, a resident of Kalwa stated that last December she received an email and some calls mentioning a renowned production house, and was offered a role in a web series. She was told by the conman that for further formalities she will have to fly down to Hyderabad.
She agreed to fly down when one other person who identified himself as an executive producer called her and told her that she will have to bear the cost of the air tickets which shall be refunded, said a police officer
The conmen gave her a promo code related to the production house to book the tickets. But she was unable to book the tickets. Hence, she called on the number of that person who told her to transfer the amount Rs 30, 368 through G-Pay, She did that but did not get any confirmation for the same. She tried calling on the number but in vain hence she realized that she had been duped
