Two BSF jawans killed as ambulance overturns near footbridge in Shastri Park

Two Border Security Force personnel were killed when an ambulance carrying six personnel collided with a divider and overturned near Shastri Park metro station in the early hours of Monday. Police said two people were thrown out of the ambulance and died on the spot.

The deceased have been identified as Constable Manoj Paswan (32) and Head Constable Yashbir Singh (52). He was being taken to IHBAS and Safdarjung Hospital for routine medical check-up and treatment when the accident happened.

Due to the sudden collision, Paswan and Singh fell on the road and were crushed by the ambulance. Local people and police helped in evacuating all the six people and took them to different hospitals.

The police got a call at around 7.30 am. Sanjay Sen, DCP (Northeast) said, “Paswan was declared brought dead at GTB Hospital, while Singh succumbed to his injuries at Jag Parvesh Chandra Hospital. He was being taken to IHBAS and Safdarjung Hospital for treatment, but there was some problem with the tyre, which led to the accident.

A case of negligent driving and negligent death has been registered against unidentified persons.
Meanwhile, the families of both the deceased, residents of UP’s Shamli, were called to Delhi after post-mortem.

Singh’s family said that he was a heart patient and had undergone an operation recently. He was going from his Rohini camp to the hospital to get medicine when the accident happened.

BSF officials said ASI Arun Kumar Pal and HC KS Gupta, who were in the ambulance, are undergoing treatment. HC Rajnish Kumar and CT Praveen Kumar are stable and have been discharged.
