Coimbatore: Two boys drowned in a stone quarry filled with water in Tiruppur’s Golden Nagar on Wednesday evening.
The dead have been identified as Truth, 13, and Kumaran, 11. He was studying in a government school.
The boys had informed their parents and had gone to a stone quarry near their home to catch fish. When the boys did not return after dark, their parents and neighbors started looking for them.
About half an hour later, they found the boys’ bicycle and clothes outside the mine. He alerted the Department of Fire and Rescue Services, whose personnel entered the water and pulled out the bodies.
