Goa Police on Saturday arrested a man and a woman for allegedly falsely identifying and investigating at a starred hotel in the state’s Dona Paula where rebel Maharashtra MLAs were staying.

The woman is associated with a political party, he said without disclosing the names of the accused.

Panaji Police Inspector Suraj Gavas said the two had stayed at the hotel for a day under false names and were arrested for impersonation.

The police had made tight security arrangements around the hotel after around 50 MLAs supporting rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde arrived on June 29. Even media persons were not allowed inside.

The MLAs left for Mumbai on Saturday evening after Shinde was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra two days ago.
