control board for Cricket In India (BCCI) on Wednesday announced the replacement of Virat Kohli with Rohit Sharma as the new ODI team. The flamboyant opener will be the team’s only white-ball leader until 2023 in 50 overs World Cup.

Rohit had already taken over the captaincy charge in T20Is from the recently concluded series against New Zealand, but he was not officially announced as the T20I captain by the selection committee at that time.
On Wednesday, the BCCI issued a statement: “The All India Senior Selection Committee also decided to name Mr. Rohit Sharma as the captain of the ODI and T20I teams.”

Meanwhile, the national selection committee also announced its 18-man squad for the upcoming 3-match Test series against South Africa from 26 December.
