New Delhi: Tourists have once again drawn the ire of people on Twitter for being insensitive towards nature and showing their irresponsible behaviour. This is not the first time that tourists have threatened the natural habitat on the pretext of holidaying.
A video from Ladakh has gone viral in which a group of tourists is shown driving their car through the ancient Pangong Lake in Ladakh. The video has provoked social media users who have demanded strict action against the perpetrators.

A Twitter user named Jigmat Ladakhi shared a video of some men driving an Audi from Pangong Lake. A foldable table and chair with wine bottles can be seen in the lake. The purported video appears to have been shot in Ladakh, but the exact date of the incident cannot be determined.
“I am again sharing another shameful video. Such irresponsible tourists are killing Ladakh. Do you know? Ladakh has more than 350 bird species and lakes like Pangong are home to many bird species. Like this Habitat of many birds may be threatened by the act of .species (sic),,” the video caption read.

There has been a lot of criticism of the behavior of tourists in Ladakh. Another user wrote, “Environment is not anybody’s property, destroying it is everyone’s responsibility.”

Some users have demanded the minister’s intervention and punishment. “Hon. Minister, this shameful behavior of so called tourists should not be spared. Otherwise, it will spoil the natural beauty of the destination (sic),” wrote one user.

Most of the tourism revenue comes from visitors to HR, Dell as they visit HP, UK, Ladakh. Yes we should respect nature but all the plots, land mass, infrastructure is built after the land has been occupied by wildlife, flora-fauna has been destroyed. All construction in UK is on river bed

Situated at an altitude of 14,100 ft in the eastern region of Ladakh, Pangong Lake is 150 km from Leh across the Changla Pass (17,000 ft). This lake is considered to be one of the largest and most beautiful natural brackish lakes in India.
