The Kashmir Files, starring Anupam Kher And Mithun Chakraborty is rocking the box office as well as the internet. The film’s popularity is increasing day by day and director Vivek Agnihotri is garnering praise for portraying the brutal reality of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits from the Valley on the big screen. Even the film has been declared tax free in many states. Reacting to the craze for The Kashmir Files, Twinkle Khanna scoffed at the title when she came to know that several filmmakers were registering film names under a similar title. She joked that a movie would be made on the disastrous manicure and it would be called ‘Nail Files’.

In her latest column, Twinkle Khanna said, “At a meeting at a producer’s office, I have been informed that new film titles are being filed as a tribute to The Kashmir Files. Since big cities are already claimed. done, now poor people are registering names like Andheri Files, Khar-Danda Files and even South Bombay Files.I am just wondering if my colleagues can still call themselves filmmakers, Or with all this filing, he has all become clerks like the original nationalist, Manoj Kumar.”

The writer further revealed that he shared the information with his mother Dimple Kapadia who suggested a film on bad manicure. To which Khanna replied, “Maybe, but at least it is better than putting the final nail in the communal coffin.”

‘The Kashmir Files’ depicts real events in Kashmir where Kashmiri Pandits were killed, tortured and forced to flee their lands after a communal campaign was launched by Islamist separatists backed by Pakistan. The film depicts caste cleansing and also shows how lakhs of Kashmiri Hindus lived in tents as refugees in their own country.

Written and directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, the Exodus drama stars Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumar, Pallavi Joshi, Bhasha Sumbali and Chinmay Mandlekar among others.
