TV anchor spends night in hotel, plots robbery story: Noida Police | Noida News – Times of India

Noida: a. editor-in-chief of Hindi news channel, who wrote a Facebook post claiming to have been robbed by five men at gunpoint on June 20, lied about it for “personal reasons” and had actually spent the night at a hotel.
The news anchor, who had been avoiding filing a police complaint, had met some female friends for dinner at one of his flats in Sector 45 and was “hurry” when he got a call from his wife.
But on the night of June 20, police scanned the CCTV footage of the route they used to find that there were several discrepancies in the timing and sequence of events mentioned by them in their Facebook posts.
As per the sequence of events established by Bisrakh Police, TV anchor Left for his Ecovillage 1 home from his friend’s flat at around 10.40 pm and not at 12.40 as mentioned in his post.
They crossed the Hindon bridge near Rise Chowk at 10:53 pm.
In his post, he said that he was robbed near the bridge at around 1am and reached his society 15 minutes later. But according to the CCTV cameras, the anchor entered the society at 11 pm, came out again at 11.12 pm and returned at 11.58 am.
Police said in a statement, “At around 12.15 pm, he again left Ecovillage. His vehicle proceeded to ATS intersection and towards Hanuman Mandir, crossing Char Murti crossroads, Parthala Chowk and finally reaching the hotel at 1.07 pm. can be seen.”
“It was also confirmed that he had paid at the hotel through netbanking. On checking the admission register, it was found that while he did not make any entry, the CCTV footage showed that he had visited the facility. ”
The female friend of the anchor has told the police that around 1.20 pm she called him and told him that he was roaming on the streets and had gone to a hotel to spend the night.
DCP (Central Noida) Harish Chander said that he was not concerned with the personal life of the journalist but the fact that he had given false information.
Additional DCP (Central Noida) Ankur Agarwal said, “It seems there was some family reason why he gave false information. He will be questioned.”
When asked to comment on his post, the TV anchor said, “I don’t want to say anything more. I don’t have hard feelings towards anyone. I have nothing to say on the principle of ‘appropriate truth’ being told. I better shut up because here, it takes years for a living person to prove that he is alive. Yes, the ‘lady friend’ being talked about is like my little sister and two more at her house Sisters were present. I stayed here alone in the hotel, but those who want to spread doubts about it may have personal reasons. I don’t want to comment on that either.”
The place where the journalist claimed the loot is barely 300 meters from the Rise police post in Noida (Extension). She shared her ordeal in a Facebook post – “Life is safe probably because I am a TV anchor”.
