Tusshar Kapoor Couldn’t Meet Son During Maarrich Shoot, Says ‘I Knew He Was Missing Me’ | Exclusive

Actor Tusshar Kapoor played many hats during the making of his newly released film Maareech. The actor not only starred in the film as the protagonist but also doubled up as a producer. Even though double duty at work wasn’t enough to keep his hands full, Tusshar was also doing his bit as a father, making sure he gave enough time to his son Laksshya Kapoor.

Speaking to News18.com ahead of the film’s release, Tusshar admitted that it was challenging for him to strike a balance between producing and acting. “I was a producer for the second time and I also had to be in my character so I didn’t focus on the production part at all on the set. My production manager was dealing with that, but when I finished shooting for the day, I’d look at everything that happened – what went right, what went wrong, how we could fix it, etc. Pressure because as an actor on the sets, I had to look confident, so I cannot take the pressure of being a producer and then facing the camera. I had to put it aside and deal with it later,” he said.

When asked if he finds time for his son between the two duties, Tusshar admits, “To be honest, I could not see my son when I was shooting. But then in the evening or on days when there was no shooting schedule (I spent time with him). I spent so much time with him during the pandemic and by the time we went to shoot, the schools had reopened, he didn’t need me as much but yes, when the shoots became regular, I came to know that he was missing. . So I used to make up for the days when there was no shooting.”

However, she took Lakshya to the sets of the film for a few days to spend time with him over lunch. “He came a day or two when there was a long gap and he did not meet me. Then I brought her to the sets for an afternoon to spend time with me and watch the shoot. He came to lunch with me a day or two and he was running around having fun,” he recalled.

But these were not the only challenges he faced. The Golmaal star revealed that stepping out of his comfort zone with his character of Marich had its share of challenges as well. “Initially, of course, when I was starting the workshop, it took me a while to feel comfortable and warm to the character as he has his own equations with his wife and is also a bit flirtatious. Even though he’s an honest cop, he also has a lot of mannerisms, he has this badass quality in that he doesn’t really get bogged down by the pressure. She’s super confident in a way, but she also has a vulnerable side,” explained Tushar.

“Bringing in all these different colours, which I have never played before (was challenging). Initially, I was a little nervous whether it was going to come out right and the director was thankfully very strong so he pushed me a lot as we did a lot of workshops and then finally I realized it was working and a After shooting for a few days and doing some challenging sequences well, you realize that this is also possible. It’s really about learning on the job,” he said.

With Marich, Tusshar reunited with Naseeruddin Shah after 11 years. Talking about working with him again, Tusshar said, ‘He is very cool. It is not that we did not meet in between. We must have bumped into each other on one or two occasions. When we’re in the same fraternity, no matter the time difference, when you come back to work together, you always pick up where you left off. Same was the case with Naseer ji. He is very down to earth. He is not like a film person who brings a lot of baggage with him. He’s a guy who’s very down to earth, he’s a guy who’s definitely confident and he treats everyone like we’re part of a team and he does his job and goes home Is. It’s so easy to work with him.”

Maarich is releasing in theaters on Friday, 9 December.
