Banerjee said Tripura is her home as she has visited the state several times after being in the Congress.

Accompanied by Trinamool national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee, she reached Agartala on Monday evening and then went to Udaipur in southern Tripura, where she offered prayers at the Tripura Sundari Temple – built by King Dhanya Manikya in 1501 and one of the 51 Shaktipeeths in the country.

I was among the three leaders who did maximum work when Congress came to power in this state. That’s why I know the different regions of Tripura from Sonamura to Kailashahar. When there was no one and the BJP was torturing the people, it was the Trinamool Congress that stood here with the people.

I can speak my language here and eat food of my choice. From food to dress and behaviour, everything is almost the same.”

Sharing her concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, the West Bengal Chief Minister said that Trinamool Congress workers and leaders have been attacked. He said vehicles of leaders including party’s Rajya Sabha members Sushmita Dev, Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Dola Sen, Rajib Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee have been vandalised.
