Threatening TMC leaders, Bhowmik said, “TMC is trying to damage the Biplab Kumar Deb-led government in Tripura, which came to power after ending 25 years of communist rule. All this is happening at the instigation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Bhowmik, who is an MLA from Belonia constituency, made the remarks during a felicitation ceremony for Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Pratima Bhowmik at Belonia Old Town Hall in South Tripura district on Wednesday.
He said, ‘I appeal to all of you that we need to attack them in Talibani style. After landing here at the airport, we need to attack them. We will protect our government led by Biplab Kumar Deb with every drop of blood.
A video clip of his comments went viral on social media, drawing widespread criticism.
Reacting to his remarks, Tripura TMC leader Subal Bhowmik demanded the arrest of the BJP MLA.
“TMC leaders from West Bengal were harassed last night at a private hotel in Agartala where they are staying. The incident happened after the MLA made inflammatory remarks.
BJP Tripura Chief spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty said the remarks made by Bhowmik exclusively belonged to him and the party does not take any responsibility.
Bhowmik said that he made the remarks as an example to justify the way he took the TMC seriously.
“I used the word ‘Taliban’ to make it clear that the way the Trinamool Congress is trying to damage the BJP government in Tripura, it needs a strong response. The use of the word ‘Taliban’ may have sent a wrong message, but my intention was just to show how to counter them seriously,” the BJP MLA said.
There have been reports of clashes between TMC and BJP from Tripura in the last few weeks.
On his first visit, the convoy of TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was allegedly attacked by BJP worker August 3 in Tripura.
The TMC had claimed that two of its youth leaders from West Bengal were injured after an attack by BJP workers in the north-eastern state’s Dhalai district on August 7.
The Trinamool Congress alleged that two of its MPs Dola Sen and Aparupa Poddar were attacked twice by BJP supporters in South Tripura district on Independence Day.
The saffron party, however, denied the allegations, saying the TMC did not pose any threat to them in the state.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Calcutta High Court ordered monitoring of the court. CBI Investigating cases of alleged murder and rape during the post-poll violence in West Bengal, while severely blaming the Mamata Banerjee-led state government.
While pronouncing the verdict, the Calcutta High Court also ordered setting up of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate other offences. Senior officers of West Bengal cadre will be part of the SIT.
The state government has been asked to hand over all the documents and records to the investigating agencies. “If the state is not functioning properly, it will be taken seriously,” the high court said.
The order comes in response to PILs seeking an impartial probe into the alleged post-poll violence in West Bengal.
The PILs alleged that as a result of the post-poll violence in West Bengal, people were thrashed, ransacked and their property destroyed and demanded a fair investigation and protection of life and liberty. done.
The High Court had ordered the NHRC to set up an inquiry committee to probe various allegations during the “post-poll violence”.
In its report, the NHRC panel recommended a CBI probe into “serious offenses such as murder and rape” that allegedly took place during the post-poll violence and said the trial should be conducted outside the state.
The report strongly criticized the Mamata Banerjee-led state government for allegedly failing to contain the political violence that erupted after the Trinamool Congress’s victory in the assembly elections.
