The Trinamool Congress today announced the launch of a direct cash transfer scheme for women if it comes to power in Goa after the assembly elections to be held in February next year.

Trinamool leader Mahua Moitra said that under the scheme named Griha Lakshmi, a woman from each household would be guaranteed an income of Rs 5,000 per month to combat inflation after the party came to power.

The party will soon start distributing cards for the scheme, he said, adding that these cards with unique identification numbers will be made operational after the Trinamool government is formed in Goa.
