Councilor Kuheli Ghosh also said that he is ready to face a CBI probe in the matter if needed. “Let the truth prevail. I have full faith in the judicial system,” he said.

Trinamool Congress’s South 24 Parganas municipal councilor Kuheli Ghosh, whose name appeared in the list of 952 optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets allegedly tampered with to appoint ineligible candidates as teachers in state-run schools as published by the West Bengal School Service Commission. filed a defamation suit in the Calcutta High Court on Monday.

Apart from being a councilor from ward number 18 of Rajpur-Sonarpur municipality in South 24 Parganas, Ghosh is also working as a secondary history teacher at Sonarpur Chowhati High School, which comes under his ward. His name is at number 474 in the list of 952 tampered OMR sheets published by the commission.

He said on Monday that he had filed the defamation suit before a single-judge bench of Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay, which is primarily hearing cases related to the multi-crore teacher scam in the state. He has claimed that he has secured his position by qualifying in the recruitment test and therefore, his social reputation has been damaged by his name appearing in the list of doctored OMR sheets.

“I came to know on December 23 that my name is in the list. I do not understand why my name appeared in the list. I have completed both my Masters and Bachelor of Education. Before getting this job as a secondary teacher, I was a primary teacher in a government school. I was never informed about the marks obtained in the written test and interview. I was only shown eligible. Still, I don’t understand why my name figured in the list,” Ghosh said.

Ghosh also said that he is ready to face a CBI probe in the matter if required. “Let the truth come out. I have full faith in the judicial system,” she said.
