Sumrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians played out an instant classic in the IPL 2024 on Wednesday as they put up a run fest for the fans to enjoy, with SRH ultimately triumphing on the day by 31 runs in Hyderabad.

SRH recorded the highest total in the history of the tournament with an incredible 277/3 in 20 overs, before limiting MI to 246/5 in reply.

Following the heavy defeat, MI icon and legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar was seen peeping up the deflated team with words of encouragement.

“In the second half, despite scoring 277 runs, 10 over down the line, nobody knew who was the clear wine. The game was very open,” Tendulkar began.

“The target was very much achievable. And that is a clear-cut sign that we have batted really well,” he continued.

“So let’s stick together, tighter. There are going to be tougher moments, but we will stick together as a group and pull through,” the legendary batter said.

Newly-appointed skipper Hardik Pandya, who slumped to his second defeat in as many games since his return to MI was also seen cheering up his side following the game.

“The toughest soldiers get the toughest test, and we are the toughest team in the competition,” Pandya began in his post-game pep-talk.

“If anyone could have come close to where we reached as a batting unit or as a team, it was us,” he continued.

“Something I’m really proud of is our bowlers. Even when the day was tough, I did not see anyone running away. Everyone wanted the ball and I think that is a good sign,” the maverick all-rounder revealed.

“So let’s make sure we help each other throughout whatever happens. Worst, bad, good, we will manage it together, and we will be together,” the skipper concluded to a round of applause from the huddle.

MI stand ninth in the league table after their second consecutive loss in the ongoing season of the T20 extravaganza, while SRH jumped to the third spot with their win.
