Top Lashkar commander Salim Pare among two terrorists killed in Srinagar: J&K Police

New Delhi: Two terrorists, including top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Salim Parre, were killed in two encounters with security forces in Harwan area on the outskirts of Srinagar on Monday.

The second terrorist has been identified as Hafiz alias Hamza from Pakistan. IGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar said that Hamza was involved in the killing of two policemen in Bandipora.

Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the encounter site.

“This afternoon we received inputs about the presence of top Lashkar commander Salim Parre and a foreign terrorist in Shalimar, Srinagar. Parray was neutralized in the encounter but the foreign terrorist fled. We chased him down and neutralized him in another encounter. Given.” IGP Vijay Kumar was quoted as saying.

Last week, Vijay Kumar had said that 171 terrorists, including 19 Pakistanis, were killed in 2021. “Stale terrorists or terrorist associates were arrested, 597 Over-Ground Workers (OGWs) were also arrested. Around 127 rifles and 167 pistols were recovered,” the IGP had said.
