Tollywood actress Shalu Chaurasia got injured in an attack by an unidentified person near KBR Park in Tony Banjara Hills on Sunday night.
The young actor was attacked and her mobile phone snatched while she was taking a walk around 8.30 am
She complained to the police that a person first asked her to hand over her money and valuables. When he resisted, he punched her in the face and also tried to attack her with a stone. The attacker snatched his mobile phone and fled.
He suffered injuries near his head and eyes and was taken to a private hospital.
On the complaint of the actress, Banjara Hills Police has registered a case and started investigation. They were scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed in the area to identify the attacker.
Celebrities, businessmen and political leaders flock to the sprawling KBR Park for morning or evening walks. Incidents of chain snatching have also come to the fore around the park.
In 2014, a man called Aurobindo Pharma executive K. Nithyananda Reddy was fired upon with an AK-47 when he was sitting in his car after his morning walk. Fortunately for Reddy, he narrowly escaped. Police later arrested a former policeman posted at the anti-Maoist Greyhounds, who confessed to stealing rifles and carrying out the attack for extortion.
