Varanasi: There was a view of celebration outside Lalit UpadhyayaThe Indian men’s hockey team created history by winning an Olympic medal after 41 years in Varanasi on Thursday. The Indian team won the bronze medal by defeating Germany 5-4.
Lalit Upadhyay’s family congratulated each other.
Lalit’s father Satish Upadhyaya “The team played well in the semi-finals as well but lost in the last 15 minutes. This time they showed their fighting skills till the last minute and won the bronze medal. Our whole family is happy,” he said.
Lalit’s sister Anjali said it was great to see India win an Olympic medal in hockey after decades. She was also happy that her brother was a part of this team.
