To prepare for his role in Jersey, Shahid Kapoor says, ‘I used to play cricket for 4-5 hours a day’

new Delhi: Shahid Kapoor is all set to wow the audience with his stellar performance as a cricketer in the sports drama ‘Jersey’. The actor is all set for the release of the film, which will finally hit the theaters on April 14, after repeated delays.

The makers recently left the audience in the dark by releasing the second trailer of the film, which is as entertaining as the first. The second trailer delves deeply into Shahid’s character as a cricketer, highlighting Arjun’s passion and undying love for cricket. Recently, during an interview with a news portal, the ‘Kabir Singh’ actor opened up about his film with Mrunal Thakur.

When asked if the actor did any special preparation for his role in the film, Shahid told CNN-News18, “We trained for four months. We started in Bombay and started playing on hard surfaces. We Started with throwdowns. I used to spend four-five hours a day playing cricket for four months and then spending a lot on the sets as well.”

The actor further said that he has played a lot of cricket on the sets and has enjoyed it despite the serious injuries. He also pointed out that the film does not have a single special effect and has played proper cricket on proper pitches with state level players.

‘Jersey’ has a sweet story that shows a father getting back into the sport to fulfill his son’s dreams. Shahid’s father and veteran actor Pankaj Kapur will also be seen in an important role in the film.

‘Jersey’ is written and directed by Gowtham Tinnanuri. The film is a remake of the 2019 Telugu film titled, which starred actors Nani and Shraddha Srinath in lead roles.
