It was last year when actor Shailesh Lodha, who played the title role in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, announced his shocking exit from the television show. Though he refrained from disclosing the reason for quitting, it is highly speculated that Lodha took the decision after engaging in a tussle with the makers. Now, during a recent interaction, the actor has finally cleared the air about his exit from the show. While he refrained from taking any names, the actor indirectly spoke about his rift with Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Modi.
The conversation took place at an event organized by Aaj Tak, in which Shailesh Lodha highlighted that no producer or publisher is bigger than an artist. He believes that when people start considering themselves above the hard work of an artist, then one should take a stand against it. The same happened in his case, “In this country publishers wear diamond rings and an author who wants to get his book published has to pay. If people who earn from the skills of others start considering themselves above talented people, then talented people should raise their voice. Perhaps I am one of those talented people who have raised their voice.
Sailesh lamented how a producer has to rely on the ability of other talented actors to earn fame, which is why he cannot be considered bigger than the cast. “No publisher in this world is bigger than a writer, similarly, a producer can’t be bigger than an actor, they are businessmen,” he continued. Concluding his statement, the actor explained that every time a businessman chooses to dominate the cast, the writers and actors will always raise their voice against it.
Following his exit, actor Sachin Shroff replaced Shailesh Lodha as Taarak Mehta. It was just last month when Raj Anadkat who played the role of Tipendra Gada aka Tapu in the show was replaced by Nitish Bhaluni. Earlier, Disha Vakani aka Dayaben had also bid adieu to the show after taking maternity leave. Currently, the makers are planning to introduce a new face for the character.
