This is the second time the makers of TMKOC have rubbished Shailesh Lodha’s allegations.
Weeks after Shailesh Lodha accused the makers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah of not paying dues, the show’s producer Asit Kumar Modi has reacted to it. Asit dismissed Lodha’s allegations and asked why he would not pay someone’s ‘hard work money’.
“What should I do with my money in my pocket? God has given me a lot of love, most of all he has given me love. Aisa kuch nahi hai ki logo ke paisa nahi du, yeh karu. Mujhe khushi hai ki mai logo ko hasata hu (Why will I not pay somebody’s hard-earned money? God has given me everything and above all, I get a lot of love from the audience. It is not true that I have not paid people their dues. I am happy that I make people laugh),” Asit Kumar Modi said as quoted by Pinkvilla.
This is the second time that the makers of TMKOC have rejected Lodha’s allegations. Even before this, the makers of the show had issued a statement claiming that the actor has not completed the exit formalities, due to which his payment has been stopped. “Despite repeated communication to sign all due documents and collect his pending payments, Shailesh Lodha has refused to do so. When you leave a company or a show, there is always a process that needs to be followed and completed. Every artist, employee or technician has to complete these formalities. No company will release payment before completing formalities,” read a part of their statement.
Earlier this month, a Hindustan Times report claimed that Lodha’s ‘six-figure sum’ is yet to be paid by the makers of the popular sitcom. The report also claims that while Lodha is patiently waiting for the same, the show’s producer Asit Kumar Modi is not paying any heed. “Shailesh’s salary for over a year has not been approved by the makers of the show. This is approximately a six digit amount. He has been waiting patiently for almost a year for the makers to clear his dues. But producer Asit Kumar Modi is not paying any heed,” said a source quoted by the entertainment portal.
Shailesh Lodha used to play the character of Tarak Mehta in the show. He was a part of the show since its inception. However, he left the job in April 2022. It was earlier reported that the actor was not very happy with his contract and felt that his dates were not properly utilized while shooting for the show. It was also said that Shailesh wanted to explore more opportunities. Sachin Shroff was taken in the show in place of Lodha.
