Trinamool Congress MLA Sokat Molla on Friday did not appear before the CBI in connection with the probe into the coal mining scam, an agency official said. The Canning Purba MLA claimed that he had some prior engagements due to which he could not appear before the agency for questioning.
“Molla mailed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Thursday night, expressing his inability to appear before the agency’s officials on Friday and sought at least 15 days to be available for questioning,” the official told PTI. ” “The MLA said that he had prior political and administrative engagements, and his lawyer would visit the CBI office on his behalf today,” he said.
The CBI had directed Molla to appear in Kolkata office at 11 am on Friday for questioning in the scam. Mulla was asked to bring documents related to his bank transactions and business with him. The official said that their names had cropped up after questioning those involved in the scam.
Several people have been arrested so far in connection with the scam in West Bardhaman district.
