  • Apply tea bags (especially green tea) under your eyes to help with dark circles and bags. The caffeine present in tea is considered a very powerful antioxidant. It not only increases blood flow but also provides protection from harmful UV rays. It slows down the aging process.
  • Iron deficiency can also be the cause of dark circles and puffiness. Eating iron-rich foods and taking iron supplements can reduce dark circles.
  • Use skin lighteners under eye creams or gels containing ingredients such as hydroquinone, Vit C, kojic acid, and hyaluronic acid.
  • The sun is getting brighter with each passing day, so applying sunscreen everyday is indispensable! It provides broad spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays. Choose a sunscreen formula that is SPF 30 or higher and is water resistant.
  • If you experience puffy eyes more often, sleep with your head elevated and with an extra pillow. The elevation prevents body fluids from accumulating under the eyes.
  • Most importantly- Get 8 hours of sound sleep. Lack of sleep can make your eyes feel tired and therefore contribute to changes in the skin of the eyes leading to dark circles.
  • One of the reasons for having dark circles can also be the loss of collagen. Eating foods rich in vitamin C and amino acids boosts collagen production by increasing hyaluronic acid levels, which also results in healthier skin.
  • Some allergies can cause puffiness and dark circles under the eyes. If your eye swelling is an allergic condition, as in some cases, eye bags can be related to allergies, don’t hesitate to ask your doctor for anti-allergy medication.
  • Last but not least- limit your screen time as artificial light causes drying and loss of skin moisture causing collagen to break down leading to hollow under eyes which appear as dark circles.
  • In-office treatments such as peels, lasers, microneedling and fillers are also a good option to get rid of under eye hollowness and dark circles.
