Time to Rebuild Mahatma Gandhi’s Land by Ending BJP’s Misrule, Says Cong

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and party leaders Rahul Gandhi Gujarat on Tuesday criticized the BJP for 27 years of misrule and said it was time to rebuild the land of Mahatma Gandhi.

Calling upon the people to reject the BJP in the upcoming assembly polls, Kharge attacked the ruling party over price rise and unemployment and alleged that it had “betrayed” farmers.

Gandhi, on the other hand, targeted the state government over the deaths due to spurious liquor in Junagadh.

“People died after drinking spurious liquor in the arid state of Gujarat yesterday! On one hand there is a show of prohibition and on the other hand people are dying due to poisonous liquor and drugs. Instead of employment, the government is giving poison. This is BJP’s ‘Gujarat Model’! The land of Gandhi-Sardar has become intoxicated,” Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi.

Along with the tweet, he used the hashtag ‘#RejectBJP’ to urge people not to vote for the party.

The news of death of two people due to spurious liquor in Gujarat’s Junagadh came in the media. In July, 42 people died after drinking spurious liquor in Gujarat’s Botad district.

Hitting out at the BJP in Gujarat, Kharge asked, “Why every section of Gujarat – youth, farmers, women, small businessmen, dalits, tribals and backward classes – are suffering.” Gujarat demands answers and accountability for the past 27. The National President of Congress said that the years of BJP rule.

He alleged that the income of the people of Gujarat is less than the national average and also claimed that seven crore Gujaratis have a debt of Rs 4.5 lakh crore due to the BJP.

CAG has warned that Gujarat is getting trapped in debt trap. BJP has given nothing but economic burden and social hatred to the people of Gujarat.

“Now is the time for change! To root out 27 years of BJP’s misrule in Gujarat! The time has come to rebuild the Gujarat of Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Morarji Desai, Balwantrai Mehta and Chimanbhai Patel! Congress will come, Will bring happiness to the people of Gujarat.”

Kharge also alleged that Gujarat was badly affected during the Covid period.

There is a huge shortage of health workers as 90 per cent posts are vacant in community health centres. He claimed that the privatization initiated by the BJP was making healthcare unmanageable for lakhs of people in Gujarat.

Claiming that Dalits and tribals were being exploited in Gujarat, Kharge accused the BJP of “protecting criminals”. The Una incident, in which Dalits were publicly thrashed under the protection of the administration, shook the conscience of every Indian. Tribals were denied rights and alleged that the Extension of Panchayats to Scheduled Areas (PESA) was not implemented.

Demonetisation, wrong GST and lack of help during the Corona period have broken the back of every section of Gujarat. People’s life has become difficult due to continuous inflation. GST has been imposed on flour, pulses, milk, pencils, medicine and treatment.

“Gujarat farmers cheated, MSP hike was less. Modi ji had promised the farmers of the country that he would give MSP 50 percent of the cost. This turned out to be the biggest fraud with the farmers.

“Farmers of Gujarat are also fed up with rising prices of fertilizers, diesel, GST, electricity and inputs,” the Congress leader said in a series of tweets in Hindi.

Gujarat elections will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5 and the results will come on December 8.
