Mumbai: three Sub-lineages of the delta-plus variant of the Sars-CoV-2 virus are currently in circulation in the state, which experts said, called for more epidemiological analysis to understand their impact on the ongoing viral transmission. A recent genome sequencing report has shown the presence of 66 delta-plus cases in the state, which includes sub-lineages Ay.1, Ay.2 and Ay.3.

highly permeable delta The mutated variant in delta-plus causes the delta’s spike protein to acquire an additional mutation called K417N, which enhances the attachment of the virus to infected cells. Now, scientists have found 13 more sub-lineages of delta-plus stains all the way from Ay.1, Ay.2, Ay.3 to 13. In Maharashtra, the first three sub-lineages have been found so far. In preliminary data, delta-plus monoclonal antibody cocktail was found to be resistant to treatment. There is so far little evidence to show that it is as permeable as Delta, which remains the dominant variant.
In Mumbai, 11 cases, including the death of a 63-year-old man Eastern referred to as a suburb. From the family of the deceased, six contacts tested positive for Covid-19. Two of these were also found positive for Delta-Plus. One of the contacts was a family member and the other a housewife, who was a slum dweller.
