Threat calls to Nitin Gadkari’s office made by jailed gangster in Karnataka: Nagpur police

NagpurNagpur Police on Saturday traced the caller of the threat call made to Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s office. The caller has been identified as jailed gangster Jayesh Kanta, who is serving a sentence in Belagavi Jail. Threatening phone calls to Union Minister Nitin Gadkarioffice from inside the jail, police said.

Murder accused threatens Nitin Gadkari over phone

“Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was being threatened from jail. The caller is Jayesh Kantha, a notorious gangster and murder accused, who is lodged in Belagavi Jail, Karnataka.” Nagpur Police Commissioner said that he threatened Gadkari’s office using phone illegally inside the jail, a team of Nagpur Police has left for Belagavi for further investigation.

Police has recovered the diary from the accused

The jail administration has recovered a diary from the accused, which has been seized.

Nagpur Police has sought production remand for the accused.

Nagpur police said Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s office in Maharashtra received threat calls on Saturday.

Security beefed up after threat call

In response to the alleged threat calls, the Nagpur Police later increased security around Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.

According to the police, the office received three calls at 11.25 am, 11.32 am and 12.32 pm on the landline number of Gadkari’s office from a BSNL network-registered number. Call records are being retrieved.

“There were three phone calls. Details are being received and our crime branch will work on the CDR (call detail record). An analysis is underway and existing security has been increased. Security has also been beefed up at the venue of Minister Gadkari’s programme,” Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Madane, Nagpur said on Saturday.
